Over the last several weeks, some of the beautiful bachelorettes of the new show "The Bachelor Canada" have been revealed, and now the object of their affection has also been disclosed – former CFL receiver Brad Smith.

The 29-year-old will be handing out roses week after week in the new reality series, which has had tremendous success south of the border. Premiering this week, "The Bachelor Canada" will feature 25 single hopeful ladies, ranging in age from 23 to 33, as they are dismissed every episode. There will be nine episodes in total.

"At the end of the day, the only person who has to be happy with whatever I choose to do is me and my family, and that's the only way I can think about it," he told Postmedia News. "If I paid so much attention to what people were saying on a week-to-week basis, I would get lost in the fact that this was an unbelievable experience that I have to look on as my own."

Adding in a phone interview with Winnipeg Free Press, "I think that when they picked me, they picked me based on the fact that I was probably the most realistic guy who walked in there (to audition). And I knew that they were going to put girls around me who were like-minded, so I knew from that that there was a good chance that there would be somebody there for me."

"The Bachelor Canada" debuts on Wednesday at 8pm on CityTV.
