On November 6 of this year, EA Games and BioWare will release the entire Mass Effect Trilogy in one compilation package for $59.99. The bundle will initially release on Xbox 360 and PC, both platforms that have had the individual games available for purchase for some time now. The interesting news to take away from this, however, is that the ME Trilogy will eventually release on the PlayStation 3, marking the first time the original Mass Effect will be available on Sony’s console.
According to EA’s press release, a specific date for the PS3 release has not yet been determined. However, when it eventually does release, the Mass Effect Trilogy will be the only option if you want the original ME on a retail disc. There will also be a digital download option available.
PS3 owners have been clamoring for the original Mass Effect for some time now. They already have both Mass Effect 2 and the trilogy concluder, Mass Effect 3. In just a short amount of time, PS3 gamers will finally be able to experience the game that started it all instead of just watching that lame motion comics that preludes the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2.
Not coincidently, November 7 will mark “N7 Day,” which will be a worldwide celebration of the Mass Effect universe. You can keep up to date on EA’s scheduled events at MassEffect.com.
