NBA Live 13 Still Having Development Trouble

The game is still happening, it’s just taking longer than expected to get out of rehab.

We haven’t had a NBA simulation game from EA Sports since 2010. Isn’t that crazy? EA dropped the “Live” name to instead go “Elite” back in 2011, yet that title never saw the light of day for various reasons, resulting in 2K Sports’ NBA 2K series to be the sole king of simulation basketball video gaming.

This year is supposed to be different. EA resuscitated the “Live” namesake and is looking to hit the hardwood to offer some competition to arguably the best sports video game series of all time. That’s no easy task. However, it appears even a name change and a back-to-the-basics approach isn’t helping NBA Live 13’s chances. According to EA Sports, the game is delayed infinitely, leaving NBA 2K13 to hit the streets on October 2 as the only NBA game available for the foreseeable future.

That said, EA Sports is still planning to launch NBA Live 13 at some point. The game just needs further development time before it’s ready to be ushered out into the wild; time EA is willing to give the development team in order to make a stable product. So who knows when NBA Live 13 will see the light of day, but we do know it’s not cozying up to a trash heap just yet.

To prove that point, EA released a new trailer for the game, which you can see below. So, what do you think? Does NBA Live 13 stand a chance going toe to toe with NBA 2K13? Sound off below.
