Joe Nathan Loses Bet, Poses As Tony Romo

Why the Rangers' shut-down closer had to don the quarterback's gear at the ballpark.

Joe Nathan has been having an amazing bounce-back season in Arlington. After many wondered if he could ever pitch again following Tommy John surgery, the former Twin has saved 32 games with a 2.40 ERA for his first place team in Texas this season. Considering his on-field success, it's also nice to know that he he's not only a man of his word off it, but can also take a joke.

As it turns out, Nathan — a Giants fan — made a bet with fellow reliever Mike Adams — a big Cowboys fan — before last Wednesday's Cowboys vs. Giants game. The loser would have to sport their counterpart's favorite team's full uniform and pads to the ballpark at a game the following week. As we all know, Tony Romo was relentless and led his team to a big 24-17 opening win against the Giants — meaning Nathan would have to suffer the consequences.

"It feels just like I thought it would — absolutely terrible," Nathan said while wearing Romo's uni during batting practice according to Yahoo Sports.
