During the first season of Showtime’s “Homeland,” CIA Agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) relentlessly attempted to prove that recently recovered prisoner of war, Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) had been turned by the deadly terrorist known as Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban).

Near the beginning of the story, there were no ethical lines that Carrie wouldn’t cross to discover the truth, from her illegal surveillance of Brody’s home and all the way to up to seducing Brody herself just to get closer to him. Unfortunately, Carrie’s mental instability rapidly caught up with her and that was only complicated by her very real romantic feelings for Brody.

As it turns out, Carrie was completely right about Brody, and she unknowingly played a role in getting him to reconsider his assassination attempt of the Vice President after his suicide vest failed. Unfortunately for Carrie, not even she realized how right she was as she was thrown out of the CIA and sent in for electro-shock treatment for her mental problems. But just as the therapy was about to begin, Carrie remembered a key clue about Brody’s connection to Abu Nazir… and then begged herself not to forget…

While the second season of “Homeland” won’t officially kick off until Sunday, September 30, Showtime has released  the first 25 minutes of the season premiere; which takes place several months after the first season finale. And viewers will soon learn what’s become of Carrie and where she may go in the future, as Brody receives some rare good news. But Brody’s life is a house of cards and not even he can maintain that illusion forever…
