This Week’s Marvel NOW Teasers – Speculation Ahoy!

This new batch of teasers is a lot more cryptic than the last one. Let's try to figure out what these are, shall we?

When the last batch of Marvel NOW teasers came out, they came with words like "mighty," "invincible" and "chimichangas," which were not hard to attach to specific heroes. This week's teasers, however, are a bit more muddled. Let's take a look at them and see what we can piece together.

Marvel NOW

Daniel Way and Steve Dillon, we know that much. A Deadpool writer I didn't take to and a Punisher artist Iann Robinson reviles. This could be a reference to the Thunderbolts, whose tagline was always "Justice… like lightning!" As such, it sounds like an unfortunate trade down from Jeff Parker's current series, which is undergoing a Dark Avengers riff at the moment. Yet, the title of Parker's latest issue is "Change Is Good," which is the Brian Michael Bendis line used to shut fanboys up. Thus, we're likely being prepared for this changeover.

Marvel NOW

Dennis Hopless, writer of Legion of Monsters and X-Men: Season One, and Kev Walker are on… well, no idea here. Blood-spattered "survive." Could Morbius and his underground city of monsters be getting their own ongoing?

Marvel NOW

Hey, Hopeless again, this time with artist Salvador Larroca. There are apparently rumors of a new Punisher book where he actually heads up a team of some sort. We discussed it on Book Report #112 a bit – although taking on a new recruit in Rachel Cole-Alves has really fucked up Frank Castle's spotless record of never making mistakes, if he could find enough like-minded people to treat it as a military mission, The Howling Punishers could be something that kinda works. But would they be "The Wanted," as could be the case if the Avengers fail to take him down in the upcoming Greg Rucka swan song "War Zone," or would they more likely be…

Now Sam Humphries is known for his work on the Ultimate Comics, so this may be a new development over there – hell, all of these could be Ultimate Comic efforts. Maybe Ultimate Thunderbolts?  Ron Garney's been around quite a bit, too, and "Killers" is very generic.

We'll have to wait until next week for definitive answers, but feel free to speculate until the cows come home!
