After long runs on FX's signature dramas "The Shield" and "Sons of Anarchy," Kurt Sutter is ready to try his hand at comedy.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sutter has sold a comedy script to FX called "Diva. Clown. Killer." The project was also given an unusual description from the network which calls it a “dark, absurd comedy about an 80′s has-been rock diva, her dysfunctional son who makes his living as kid’s party clown, and of course, an assassin.”

Sutter will executive produce "Diva. Clown. Killer." alongside his wife, Katey Sagal and Belle Zwerdling. Sagal may even star as the "80′s has-been rock diva" mother, depending upon her schedule. Sagal is currently co-starring in Sutter's "Sons of Anarchy;" which is entering its fifth season on FX. Sutter has repeatedly stated that "Sons of Anarchy" will likely run for seven seasons, but it is not inconceivable that Sagal would be able to appear in both shows simultaneously.

In a brief statement, Sutter said “I look at 'SOA' as being an intense drama, where the murder and mayhem are made palatable by absurd, dark humor. This half-hour will be an absurd, dark comedy, where the story is fueled by murder and mayhem.”

If "Diva. Clown. Killer." goes forward as a TV series, Sutter will hire a showrunner while he continues to focus on the remaining seasons of "Sons of Anarchy."
