Who The Heck Is Kevin Ogletree?

The fourth year Cowboy exploded for a huge night against the Giants on Wednesday. Now what can we expect?

"A huge emphasis for us was big plays," said Kevin Ogletree following his career game on Wednesday against his home-town Giants.  "I don't want the focus to be on me too much, but I am very, very humbled and appreciative of how we played today."

And Ogletree made nothing but big plays in his team's big win, knocking down the mighty Super Bowl champion defending Giants 24-17. Ogletree, a fourth year receiver out of Virginia, had 3 fumbles, 0 touchdowns and only 25 receptions in his entire career before Wednesday; against the Giants he finished with 8 receptions on 114 yards and 2 TDs. I think that classifies as a career night.

So who exactly is this guy? Here are the facts:

Age: 25 years old
Size: 6-foot-1, 196 pounds
Home Town:  Queens, NY
College: Virginia (two-time ACC honorable mention)
Drafted: Undrafted free agent, signed by Dallas 2009

….annnddd that's about all we know.

We've seen receivers come out of nowhere before, but I'm a little skeptical with Ogletree. Can a player that's been nothing but a practice scrub for three years finally find his inner Jerry Rice entering his age 25 season? The undrafted free agent only had 10 TDs in 3 seasons at Virginia after all.

Look at the highlights from last night. There is no doubt the kid can play….

That being said, it's also important to remember that Miles Austin (hammy) and Jason Witten (spleen) are currently battling injuries right now as well.

I would say that the consensus will be out on Ogletree in that the kid can definitely play and beat defenders consistently — but with teams prepping for him now, I don't see the new Dallas hero putting up huge games like this every week. If you're in a fantasy league and he's not owned yet, definitely take a flier on him. He will produce against teams with weak corners.
