The super-hero comedy sequel "Kick-Ass 2" will now boast a super funny Canadian – Jim Carrey has been confirmed to be making a cameo in the upcoming flick.

Director Jeff Wadlow got the speculation buzzing when he tweeted, "6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f'n then!" (referencing one of Carrey's main catch phrases). Carrey will play Colonel Stars.

"Kick-Ass 2," which is scheduled to come out in July next summer, will star Chloë Grace Moretz ("500 Days of Summer," "Hugo"), Nicolas Cage ("Seeking Justice," "Drive Angry"), Aaron Johnson (TV's "Nearly Famous," "Savages"), and Lyndsy Fonseca (known for her TV work on "Nikita" and "How I Met Your Mother").

According to The Guardian, the first "Kick-Ass" movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn, a Brit who helped to pay for the film's $28-million budget on his own in order to avoid going through the studio system. It was a critical and box-office success, though one of the main characters, Hit Girl (played by Moretz), was an 11-year-old masked vigilante who used bad language and killed criminals, upsetting some conservative commentators. Moretz is now 15 and will reprise the role in "Kick-Ass 2."

The latest comedy will hit theatres on July 19th of next year.
