PSOne Classics Finally Come to PS Vita

If you’re an American, don’t get too excited…

Sony has finally brought PSOne Classics to the PS Vita today with firmware update 1.80. However, the rollout will be a massive disappointment for gamers living in North America. As of right now, you can only purchase and download nine PSOne Classic titles for the PS Vita. If you thought you’d have instant access to the entire PSOne catalogue right out of the gate, think again. Sony plans to do a phased rollout with new titles releasing on a weekly basis.

You have my permission to scream at your computer screen now.

The titles available today in the PS Store on the Vita under “PSOne Classics” are as follows:

  • Arc the Lad
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • FINAL FANTASY VII
  • Hot Shots Golf 2
  • Jet Moto
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tomb Raider
  • Twisted Metal 2
  • Wild Arms

Meanwhile, European gamers get access to 100+ PSOne Classics with firmware update 1.80. To my fellow American Vita owners, I feel your pain.

Hopefully, the next rollout of PSOne Classics will be larger than just nine titles. I’m thinking like 30 or more each week. But that might just be wishful thinking. It seems as though Sony is going to drag this out for as long as possible.

My Vita will continue to collect dust in the meantime…
