The BBC has reported that Arsenal's Andre Santos was arrested last Friday following a high speed pursuit he engaged in with police.

The Premier League reportedly reached a speed of 130mph in his black Maserati GranTurismo supercar, before finally stopping 500 yards from Arsenal's training ground in London Colney, Hertfordshire. The incident took place on August 17, the day before Arsenal's opening game of 2012/2013 Premier League season against Sunderland. Santos did not play in the game, which finished as a goalless draw.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said of the incident: "Shortly after 9.30am on Friday August 17, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police on the A1, near to Junction 22 of the M25.

"Officers' attention was drawn to the vehicle due to the manner of its driving. The man has been bailed to return at a date in mid-September to a North London police station."

Santos must answer bail next month and, if the case goes to crown court and he is convicted, he will face two years of jail time.

Arsenal are preparing for their game against Stoke City next week (August 26), with Santos today tweeting: "Another day with 2 sessions of training, becouse Sunday we have a very tuff game away againist Stoke and we preparing very hard to that game".
