The Dumb & Dumber sequel refuses to die (unlike Ron Howard's The Dark Tower, which as of today refuses to live). After decades of wishing and hoping, Dumb and Dumber To (get it?) finally seemed like a certainty, with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels both eager to reprise their roles for The Farrelly Bros. Then Jim Carrey backed out. Then he backed in again. Then Jeff Daniels got himself a hit TV series, delaying the production until next spring. Then Bobby Farrelly gave an interview to Digital Spy confirming that Dumb and Dumber To will be made next year, and even announced what the story is about.
"I can tell you that there is no growth out of either one of them and it's 20 years later," Bobby Farrelly begins, eventually adding, "The story revolves around the fact that one of them may have sired a child. They want to go and find the child because he's having a kidney problem and he wants to ask him for one of his kidneys."
So we're going to be looking for another very dumb actor somewhere down the casting process, or possibly a very smart one just to be ironic. We're also going to be looking at a film that follows along the same lines of "Ex Machina," a season one episode of 'Lost' that showed in flashbacks one of the castaways suffering through the same indignity of being conned by his father into being an organ donor. Wouldn't it be great if they're the same story, and Jeff Daniels accidentally pulls the perfect con job?
No, wait. That would be dumb. The wrong kind of dumb. We'll let the Farrelly Bros. handle this one, actually.
CraveOnline will be back with more Dumb and Dumber To news after we try the Soup du Jour.
