One-On-One With Tom Schaar

The youngest athlete to ever compete at the Dew Tour talks favorite music and who he 'looked up to as a kid.'

At just 12-year-old, Tom Schaar is definitely enjoying his summer vacation – but not like most kids.  He’s spending his time off from school competing in front of thousands, with some of the skateboarders he’s idolized for years.  But the Malibu, California native isn’t letting that get in the way of building his name.

Sure he’s the first to ever land a 1080 and the youngest to ever land a 900, but you would never know it with the way he carries himself.  Schaar is trying not to let any of his prior accomplishments go to his head and he’s certainly enjoying not only what he does, but who he does it with.

I recently sat down with Schaar for a short interview where he let us know who his favorite athlete was to skate with and what kind of music he enjoys before he hops in the bowl or gets ready for a vert run.

Ed will be covering the weekend portion of the Dew Tour, so be sure to follow him on Twitter at @PhillyEdMiller or subscribe to CraveOnline on Facebook at CraveOnlineSports for the latest.
