Over the next four days, Ocean City, Maryland will be transformed to host a number of skateboarding and BMX events, but it’s the music surrounding the event that seems to be stealing the spotlight of the Pantech Beach Championships.

Kicking off the 2012 Dew Tour season is the biggest music lineup in the event’s history, with nine acts performing over the weekend, the biggest of which are headliners Lupe Fiasco and Wolfgang Gartner.  The two are mixed in with seven other performances from the likes of Theophilus London, Vital and Two Fresh, but there will be a lot more than just live performances during the tour this year.

Yesterday the Dew Tour announced a partnership with Build Destroy Music and DJ Skee – a hip hop DJ and radio personality – to create 10 original songs around the event’s unique sound; a mixture of alternative and hip hop.  Each track will be an original and will serve as the complete score for NBC Sports’ entire coverage of the 2012 Dew Tour.  The songs will be concocted by Dew Tour athletes such as Steve McCann, Bucky Lasek, Greg Lutzka, Kyle Baldock and Colton Satterfield, all of whom joined DJ Skee in the studio – making it the first time athletes will be co-producers in the music featured from the events.

“I’m excited to be a part of something so innovative and fresh with the Dew Tour.  I can’t wait for everyone to experience each of the original tracks,” DJ Skee said.

DJ Skee has four Sirius/XM radio shows, was recently named to Billboard Magazine’s coveted “30 Under 30” Industry Power Players and even launched Skee TV in 2007.  The Dew Tour even collaborated with Skee TV – in conjunction with Alli Sports and NBC Sports – to produce six short videos featuring the athletes during their in-studio sessions.

“Music is such a key component of action sports.  It’s really impactful for the foundation of our music series to directly involve the athletes in the creative process and to develop completely original tracks,” said BJ Carretta, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Alli Sports.

The live performances kick off Thursday night with RAC DJ and will be followed with Lupe Fiasco ending Friday’s festivities and Wolfgang Gartner capping off Saturday’s events.  Catch all the action on the NBC Sports Network as the 2012 Dew Tour kicks off in Ocean City, Maryland.  Coverage begins Friday at 7:30 pm EST, Saturday at 1:00 pm EST and Sunday at 2:00 pm EST.
