It's been well over a year since we last heard about the sequel to Bad Santa, when a spokesperson for The Weinstein Company said that Billy Bob Thornton was coming back for a risque Christmas comedy sequel. That's long enough for most of us to have discounted Bad Santa 2 entirely, so today's news feels like some kind of Christmas (in July) miracle: Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink is in talks to rewrite and direct a new installment of the holiday yarn.

When we last left Thornton's crass, butt-lovin' mall Santa, he was fairly imprisoned for his crimes and awaiting release to return home to a somewhat annoying child and a ridiculously foxy, Santa-fetished Lauren Graham. Pink will be free to pretty much do whatever he wants with the sequel, which we hopes begins just like The Blues Brothers, with Thornton exiting the prison with only his yuletide duds on his back and car chases a-plenty to follow. Or they could go the action movie route, and call it Bad Santa: War on Christmas.

Or we could just let this very funny director do his thing. You know, whatever. What do you want to see in Bad Santa 2? Hit us up in the comments below.

CraveOnline will be back with more Bad Santa 2 news, becaue they can't all be winners.
