Today, Activision announced a first-person shooter based on AMC’s version of The Walking Dead. The game is being developed by Terminal Reality and will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013.

The game will focus on Daryl Dixon and his brother, Merle, who are on a “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.” Players will control Daryl specifically and have to ration supplies like food and ammunition and remain stealthy to avoid detection by zombies on the way to Atlanta. You’ll also run into a slew of new characters that will either become allies or enemies, depending how you interact with them.

The Walking Dead as a first-person shooter doesn't seem like a match made in heaven, what with the characters on the show constantly avoiding using firearms because it alerts the undead. However, we're willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt… for now.

Here's the title's first teaser trailer.

And if you're attending the San Diego Comic-Con, swing by the Activision booth (#5344) to pre-order the game and receive this charming ear necklace. Only the first 100 pre-orders will snag the swag, though.
