In the closing moments of "The Walking Dead" season 2, the audience's gaze was deliberately set upon a seemingly abandoned prison that should look very familiar to fans of the original comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard.
AMC has already confirmed that the prison will be a major setting this season as the band of survivors led by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) eventually comes into conflict with The Governor (David Morrissey) and his followers at Woodbury. Now Entertainment Weekly has debuted two brand new photos of the prison, including a shot of Rick, Glenn (Steven Yeun), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and T-Dog (IronE Singleton) back-to-back as they make their way through the zombies within the prison yard.
In the second photo, Maggie prepares to finish off a walker with a machete.
“I’m incredibly proud of the prison,” related "Walking Dead" showrunner and executive producer, Glen Mazzara. “I think our crew has done a great job. It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.”
"The Walking Dead" season 3 will premiere on AMC in October.
