‘Secret Six’ Creators Reuniting for ‘Leaving Megalopolis’

Gail Simone & Jim Calafiore are rumored to have a new Kickstarter project in the works, and that would rule.

Secret Six

One of the major laments about DC's New 52, at least in my estimation, was the loss of Secret Six, the fantastic series from Gail Simone often illustrated by Jim Calafiore about a group of ne'er-do-well superfolk with reluctantly functioning consciences who don't fit in on either side of the hero/villain divide. Simone is still writing Batgirl for the New 52, but it doesn't have the same twisted roughneck charm that characterized the Six, and Suicide Squad isn't cutting it as a replacement.

While we're not expecting a Secret Six revival anytime soon, considering how disorganized the New 52 seems to be as far as who's dead, who's alive and who's usable, there is a new rumor that Simone and Calafiore will be reteaming for a Kickstarter project called Leaving Megalopolis. This apparently marks the first time anyone actively working for one of the Big Two have utilized Kickstarter, a service that allows creators to try to get funding for their projects through donations, and the fact that someone with Simone's cult following involved would seem to pretty much guarantee a successful kickstarting.

Nothing's confirmed, there's no preview art or anything available yet, but this is news because of who's involved, and because I want to remind everybody that Secret Six was awesome, and if Bane in The Dark Knight Rises is anything close to as cool as he was in Secret Six, that movie will be fantastic.
