It's kind of hard to imagine, but George Miller is finally getting Mad Max: Fury Road in front of the cameras in the next month or so. The fourth movie in the franchise, which is now considered a reboot, casts The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy as "Mad" Max Rockatansky alongside Prometheus star Charlize Theron, who made the gossip columns recently because she's shaving her head for the role. But she won't be the only internationally recognized beauty in the film's cast: Just Jared is reporting that Transformers: Dark of the Moon co-star Rosie Huntington-Whitely will play one of the "Five Wives" in Fury Road.
Who are the Five Wives? Details are still being kept under wraps, but apparently they are five women being transported across the apocalyptic wasteland, presumably by Max. Huntington-Whitely will be joined in the quintet by Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class), Riley Keough (The Runaways) and, it can be inferred, two other actresses as well. The concept seems to befit the series' recurring themes of nomadism and the battle between self-interest and altruism, explored over the course of 1979's Mad Max, 1981's The Road Warrior and 1985's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Although considered Ozploitation films, the fourth and fifth Mad Max movies – which are being shot back to back – will begin filming in Namibia this summer.
CraveOnline will be back with more Mad Max: Fury Road news after we just walk away.
