New Avengers Trailer Reveals (Almost) Nothing New

But Marvel Studios throws in a big surprise at the end. Literally big. We've got screen grabs.

What are you doing reading this? Watch the trailer for The Avengers already! (We'll be back when you're done.)

There, all better?

If you're anything like us, your reactions while watching the second Avengers trailer probably went something like this: "Yay! …Okay, show us something new… No, show us something really new, about the plot or characters or something… Okay, we'll settle for a different action sequence, if you've got one around here somewhere… No? How about one in a new location? …Okay, what about just one good look at those aliens in the flying jet skis, would that be too much to… Geez, we guess it is too much to ask for… Man, that was kind of disappoi-what the hell is that?!"

Yeah, that big sucker at the end is a bit of a head scratcher. It doesn't quite pack the punch of throwing in somebody like Thanos at the end, but it sure as hell doesn't look like a Skrull, does it? And we're reasonably certain that Jormungand, The Midgard Serpent doesn't fly, so maybe we're not just looking at Asgardians after all. What alien race has that kind of giant monsters in its arsenal? Are we being invaded by The Negative Zone, or have the Skrulls been outsourcing armadas from Monster Island?

Take a gander at these screen grabs and leave your theories below.
