The marketing campaign for Prometheus is in full swing with this clever new viral video, which finds Guy Pearce's character, Peter Weyland (head of Weyland-Yutani), giving a speech at a 2023 TED conference, ten years before the start of the movie. The short film was conceived by Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof, who directed and co-wrote the film respectively, and directed by Luke Scott, with the assistance of TED's very own Tom Rielly.
The short finds Peter Weyland giving a very impressive-sounding speech about what the title really means to the world and Weyland-Yutani in particular, in regards to the Greek myth about Prometheus bringing fire to mankind (and pissing off the gods), and includes some cute details like a Twitter comment in on a screen behind him reading, "Where's Weyland going with this? Thought fire was for all mankind. He's probably franchised it now. #TED" Enjoy!Photo Credit: Fox
