Adam Sandler Gets 11 Razzie Nominations!

The Jack & Jill star (and co-star) sets a new record for most nominations in a single year. Here's the full list of nominees.

Today's the day, the eve of The Academy Awards, when The Golden Raspberry Awards – aka "The Razzies" – usually give out their awards for the Worst Picture, Performances and so on of the year. This year, they decided to mix it up and give out their nominations instead. The idea, according to Razzies founder John Wilson was to give the voters "additional time to see the dreck they will eventually nominate." If true, that implied that the nominees this year wouldn't be the usual "Who's Who" of easy target celebrities and low-ambition Hollywood drivel, perhaps leaving room for lesser-seen crappiness like Brother's Justice, Atlas Shrugged: Part 1 or at the very least Sanctum. No dice: this year's nominees are just like any other's.

The big story, we suppose, is that this year the Razzies chose to pick on Adam Sandler by giving him more nominations than any other individual in a single year. Between his three films Jack & Jill, Just Go With It and Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (which he co-wrote and produced). he pulled together a record-setting 11 nominations. Jack & Jill also became the fourth film in Razzie history to earn more nominations than there are categories, with 12 in all, joining the disreputable ranks of Showgirls, Battlefield: Earth and the now (happily) forgotten Pia Zadora bomb The Lonely Lady in the process. Not that we're complaining: Jack & Jill topped our list of The Worst Films of 2011, in a tie with Atlas Shrugged. Seriously, Razzies? You thought Atlas Shrugged was better than Transformers: Dark of the Moon? Transformers wasn't good or nothing, but it's better than that.

Feel free to scour these nominees and drop us a line in the comments section for your own complaints and kudos. The 32nd Annual Golden Raspberry Awards winners will be announced on April Fool's Day. (Get it?)
