Break out the ooze: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back. Probably. Variety recently reported that Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's comic book creations, which were turned into a highly successful animated series, toy line, video game franchise and feature films in the 1980s and 1990s, are returning to the big screen, courtesy of Jonathan Liebesman, director of Battle: Los Angeles and the upcoming Wrath of the Titans, should he choose to accept the gig.

Pretty much f*ck all is known about the project at the moment, except that it will return Leonardo, Donatello, Michelango and Raphael to their live-action roots after Kevin Munro's swiftly-forgotten animated feature in 2007. We can presume, however, that it will be a hard reboot and not some kind of sequel to the original series, which had an excellent original entry (especially considering the bizarre concept), a goofier but still kinda fun sequel and a pretty abysmal third film that sent the Turtles back in time to fight samurai or something. We've all kind of blotted that one out, like The Manchurian Candidate but even more evil.

CraveOnline will be back when after we figure out how the ooze mutated Shredder's costume that one time.
