When you finish Mass Effect 3 in March (or a month or two later), don’t jump the gun and delete that save file. There’s a pretty good chance you’ll be able to continue to built upon that save file past Mass Effect 3, if recent teases from BioWare are to be believed.

While speaking with GamerZines, BioWare’s associate producer Mike Gamble told the site “It wouldn’t be a bad idea” in regards to hanging onto the save file post completing Mass Effect 3.

"Obviously I can't say anything," Gamble added, "but it wouldn't be a bad idea…"

We would be fools to believe the Mass Effect franchise will be completely benched once Mass Effect 3 releases, whether it’s through post-launch DLC or an eventual Mass Effect 4. The franchise is too big for EA and BioWare to completely shelve.

However, Mass Effect 3 will be the swan song for Commander Shepard. That we do know. In fact, Eurogamer recently talked to BioWare about the game’s epic conclusion, and BioWare didn’t sugarcoat it; some people are going to be pissed.

"It's going to make some people extremely happy; it's going to make some people angry," bluntly said Gamble. "But that's part of it, right? To invoke the emotion putting some of these stories to bed will naturally bring up."

Get ready to finish the fight with the Reapers on March 6th, when Mass Effect 3 launches for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
