Alice Eve sure is pretty, isn't she? We haven't seen anything she's in, so the fact that she's joined the cast of Star Trek 2 is a little more academic – not to mention aesthetic – to us than anything else. But Peter Weller, that's a different story. Although arguably less pretty than Alice Eve (arguably), he's an accomplished actor with numerous great roles to his credit. You know, like Robocop, the best movie of 1987, and one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. But also Naked Lunch, The New Age and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.
So it's pretty cool that Weller has been cast in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 2 as… Uh… Some guy. John Frederick Paxton, maybe? Could he actually be reprising his role from Star Trek: Enterprise, and if so, how the hell old would he be? If not, would be another new character, or assuming the guise of someone more familiar like the voice of The Guardian of Forever?
Bah! We're tired of speculating. That's your job, commenters. We're just here to tell you that Variety made the announcement, and that whoever he's playing, it's going to be pretty cool.
CraveOnline will be back with more Star Trek 2 news as soon as this ion cloud stops interfering with our communicators.
