Alice Eve Joins the Cast of ‘Star Trek 2’

Something tells us she's not out of Captain Kirk's league...

Star Trek 2 is finally getting made, but the speculation hasn't stopped yet. Oh no. We still know next to nothing about the plot (despite our efforts to pester J.J. Abrams about the plot he kept entirely mum). We know Benicio del Toro is in talks to play the villain (but we don't know who he's going to play, although rumors indicate that he'll portray a character familiar to Trek fans). And now, thanks to Variety, we know that Alice Eve is in talks to join the cast. But as who?! WHOOOOOOOO?!?!?!?!

Ugh… Who the hell knows. Damn you, J.J. Abrams! DAMN YOUUUUUUU!!!

And as such, our usual schtick of editorializing, pontificating and predicting the future of a film project is stymied, all because someone doesn't want to play along. So screw it. Let's start a rumor: Alice Eve is playing Persis Khambatta. Yes, the bald chick from the original Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Not her character, just Persis Khambatta. They're getting all meta up in this piece.

The only fun fact to be gleaned so far from this news is that She's Out of Your League star Alice Eve apparently won the role over Hayley Atwell, to whom Eve reportedly lost the role of Peggy Carter in this summer's Captain America: The First Avenger. With a little luck, it's the start of a classic Joan Crawford/Bette Davis rivalry. Come on, gals! Remake Whatever Happened to Baby Jane!

CraveOnline will be back with more Star Trek 2 news after we get these damned worms out of our ears.
