This is news to me, but apparently people were starting to theorize that 343 Industries’ Halo 4 would not release by the time the candle burnt out on the Xbox 360. Instead, many thought the game would be pushed back to coincide with Microsoft’s inevitable next console, as rumors about the system being in development have been popping up like weeds over the last few weeks.
Lesson to be learned here, folks: don’t trust everything you read on the Internet. Those theorists were severely mistaken.
343 Industries’ boss Frank O’Connor hit up the NeoGAF forums over the weekend to set the record straight, saying that Halo 4 will indeed be coming to the Xbox 360 and making use of a modified Halo graphics engine.
“Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s),” said O’Connor.
So, there you have it. You can breathe that sigh of relief. However, we still don’t have the faintest idea when Halo 4 is expected to launch. Since the game was revealed at E3 this past June, it’s safe to assume it will hit shelves no later than 2013. But again, we’re not guaranteeing anything. OK, we can guarantee something: it will be on Xbox 360.
