In yet another chapter of Tevez’s mission to become The Most Hated Man in Manchester, it has been confirmed by a Man City spokesperson that the striker was absent from the training ground this morning, with the squad still having no clue as to his whereabouts.
The feud between Tevez and Man City seemed to be coming to a head, after he accepted the £400,000 fine for misconduct following his alleged refusal to play in the Champions League match against Bayern Munich. However, after failing to show for at the teams’ training ground this morning, it is likely that the 27-year-old will be hit with another fine upon his return.
Tevez was last seen 7,000 miles away from Manchester in South America. It is reported that he had asked for permission to return home to Argentina during the international break, but club boss Roberto Mancini refused due to his deteriorated level of fitness following his time off.
"Carlos returned from his recent trip to Argentina and was not match fit” a club spokesperson said. “The coaches devised a training plan to return him to full fitness.
"Carlos is part way through that plan. He is due to resume training on Wednesday morning at Carrington following a rest day on Tuesday."
However, he did not travel to Carrington – he instead boarded a plane and travelled to Buenos Aires, telling reporters that he had “come to rest a little.” City have yet to elaborate on what disciplinary actions will be taken.
