Fantasy Football Focus: Week 9

Underachieving players really suck.

James LeBeauby James LeBeau

One of the most frustrating things you will find as a fantasy football owner is that sometimes you can have a great draft that just goes to crap because players don't live up to expectations. Be it through injuries or some unknown factor, sometimes players that are normal producers just fall off the grid. If this has happened to you, then make sure you take note of it for next season. Maybe some of your woes can be prevented by making the right late round pick, like maybe the back up rusher to your stud that went down in week 2 due to a season ending injury. Making the right moves is key to a championship run

Start of the Week: LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay (at NO)

Blount has returned to full practice this week and is expected to make the start this Sunday after missing the past two games. He should receive even more opportunities to rack up points now that his back up, Earnest Graham, is out for the season. Blount is going up against a weak Saints defense and though some rust is expected, so is a big game.

Sit of the Week: Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh (vs Baltimore)

The Pittsburgh Steelers running game is horrendous so far this season. Simply dreadful, to be exact, As a person who has watched every one of their games, I am intimately aware of just how anemic yards on the ground have been. A large part of this is due to injuries along the offensive line but another chunk can go on lead rusher Rashard Mendenhall. Mendenhall has not lived up to standards this season, having only 1 double digit fantasy day in the past 5 weeks. Whether it's injury or just bad play, Mendenhall just isn't getting it done. Don't expect much of that to change this week against division rival Baltimore.
