The trailer you're about to watch is, quite honestly, ridiculous. We've known about Lollipop Chainsaw for several months now; during that time, our interest levels have both peaked and valley'ed (yeah, we're just making up verbs at this point). We find ourselves psyched about the over-the-top violence, but set off by the ridiculous concept.
Until trailers like this one come along:
Now? Lollipop Chainsaw just looks like pure, unfiltered fun. Absurd? Absolutely. But that's the charm Suda 51, the game's developer, is known for bringing to the table with their games. This one looks pulpy, unapologetic and gory, and we're loving it for that.
What really does it for us when it comes to this game and its marketing is the fact that it knows exactly what gamers expect from it. Sex, violence, blood, humor…all of those things seem to ride out in fashion throughout the assets for Lollipop Chainsaw.
Will it be for everyone when it releases in 2012? No, it won't. But we applaud it for wearing that fact on its virtual sleeve. It's brutal honesty is part of the reason why we find ourselves strangely aroused…
