George Lucas's non-stop efforts to "fix" Star Wars are continuing onto the new Blu-Ray release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga. We've already heard about the addition of a CGI Yoda to The Phantom Menace, and we felt we were pretty understanding about that. But now George Lucas has reportedly changed the ending of Return of the Jedi so that Darth Vader screams "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" as he kills Emperor Palpatine.
The film originally ended with Emperor Palpatine almost killing Luke Skywalker before Darth Vader makes the silent decision to save his son's life and betray his master. The badass mofo doesn't say a word as he picks up Emperor Palpatine and drops him to his death. In the new version, George Lucas apparently felt that no one understood what was going on, because now Darth Vader says "No" before picking betraying the Emperor, and screams "NOOOOOOOOO!" just like at the end of The Revenge of the Sith as he kills him.
The clip, not quite official, is below. Sometimes people complain that criticizing the special editions is nothing more than fanboyish devotion, but ask yourself… is this in any way better than the original?
Badass Digest had the original story, where they also confirmed that in Star Wars: The Complete Saga release the Ewoks will blink, and Obi-Wan Kenobi's Krayt Dragon call in the original Star Wars has been altered dramatically. Click over to their site to watch that particular clip.
CraveOnline will be back with more Star Wars news after George Lucas adds audio of Obi-Wan Kenobi screaming in terror just before his death.
