Most unexpected news this afternoon as the film version of J. Scott Campbell's popular comic book Danger Girl gets three new stars attached, after about a decade of languishing in rumors and development hell. That may be over now that Benderspink now owns the rights and, according to Latino Review, has attached three of the hottest actresses on the planet (in more ways than one) to star: Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinale and Sofia Vergara.
Danger Girl was always obviously inspired by motion pictures, with its free-wheeling adventure tales, sexy splash pages and adventurous tone. The series stars Abbey Chase as an international woman of mystery who teams up with an all-female spy group consisting of such characters as Sydney Savage, an Australian temptress, and their tech expert Silicon Valerie. Although Latino Review's announcement doesn't mention who's playing whom, it stands to reason that Jovovich and Beckinsale will probably portray Chase and Savage, respectively. (Plus, Beckinsale already owns the vinyl cat suit.) Sofia Vergara may be playing Silcon Valerie, but then again she might also be a good fit for the Danger Girls' nemesis Natalia Kassle, a former Danger Girl gone rogue.
Although Latino Review seems confident about the news (and they're a notoriously reliable site for this kind of scoop), there's no director attached and until now Benderspink's production has flown completely under the radar. We expect more news, or possibly an official denial, very shortly.
CraveOnline will return with more Danger Girl news after we get our Johnny Barracuda audition tapes ready.
