You can go ahead and add another game to the already stacked November release schedule. Nintendo has sent out word this morning that the next entry in the Zelda franchise, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, is hitting North American retail on November 20, 2011. Therefore, it might be time to dust off that Wii of yours because it’s getting it’s first major first-party release in some time in just a few short months.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is, as far as Nintendo is concerned, the largest Zelda game to date. Nintendo is also saying that this new Zelda title makes much better use of the Wii’s MotionPlus accessory, letting you use swipes and hand gestures which accurately translate to Link’s on-screen actions. If you remember back to Twilight Princess on the Wii, things weren’t as smooth. But then again, that game was originally designed as a Gamecube title and was ported over to the Wii as an afterthought.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the biggest game in the series yet,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’ve just scratched the surface of this massive experience, and we look forward to sharing additional details with fans as we approach the Nov. 20 launch.”

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword this year perfectly lines up with the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration. That’s just serendipitous, really. Prepare thy wallets for November's gameageddon, as I'm labeling it.
