It’s been a long time since we’ve seen downloadable content for Red Dead Redemption. But here we are. Rockstar has announced a new DLC pack for the title that will be completely free as a way to pay back the fans for their continued support of the title’s multiplayer since it released in May of 2010.

The “Myths and Mavericks” pack will see release in September and will add a bunch of fan-favorite characters to the game’s online portion, as well as a few new maps for play in Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, Gang matches and other game-types. And as stated previously, this DLC will be completely free to download on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

So if you’ve been looking for that opportunity to dust off Red Dead Redemption, it’s coming in September. There will also be a title update applied to the game to usher in the new content and iron out a few issues with the game’s previously incorporated Undead Overrun multiplayer mode.

We’ll be back with more about the “Myths and Mavericks” DLC when Rockstar hits us with more details. You should expect a trailer soon, as that’s the way Rockstar likes to roll after their announcements. Yee-haw!
