Jim Gordon has long lived a life of personal torture, beating himself up over the things he can't get done, and never really being able to embrace the positives. This has been evidenced lately with the return of his son, James Jr., whom he's long suspected as being a murderer.
He certainly seems to have sociopathic tendencies, but by all outward appearances, James Jr. was living as good a life as he can manage – benevolent, charitable efforts, medication, the whole nine yards. His sister Barbara didn't believe it for a second, but the commissioner recently uncovered some evidence that could clear his son of the crime of which he's long believed him guilty.
However, last issue, it turned out that James Jr. has been slicing up childhood tormentors in his basement with a handsaw. So Jim Gordon's world is about to go to hell. Oh, and the Joker's about to be on the loose, too. Can even Batman help this mess out?
