Next week, the Doctor is coming to America.
"Doctor Who" kicks off its sixth season on BBC America next Saturday with "The Impossible Astronaut," the first part of a two part story filmed in the United States that finds the Doctor (Matt Smith) and his friends drawn to the '60s as they face an alien invasion and a dark secret that must be kept from the Doctor at all costs.
With just barely a week left to wait, the BBC has released two scenes from "The Impossible Astronaut." In the first, the Doctor is reunited with his now married companions, Rory (Arthur Darvill) and Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) along with the enigmatic woman in the Doctor's life, River Song (Alex Kingston).
In the second clip, the Doctor confronts his friends over the secret they're keeping from him. And for once, the Doctor does not hold back his thoughts on River…
Meanwhile, over at The Daily Mail, "Doctor Who" showrunner and executive producer Steven Moffat offered up some hints about The Silence, the new villains being introduced this season on the show. Moffat revealed that The Silence have the unique ability to make humans who see them instantly forget them as soon as they look away, which he implies may make them even more formidable than the Weeping Angels.
"I think the idea is very cool," noted Moffat. "Imagine going downstairs and you can’t remember if there was something upstairs."
Don't miss the sixth season premiere of "Doctor Who" on Saturday, April 23 on BBC America!
