The B-Movies Podcast mixes it up this week with Episode #10: 1997 Called…! It's a slow news week so Crave's film content editor William 'Bibbs' Bibbiani and Witney Seibold of Three Cheers for Darkened Years spend most of their time talking about their top five favorite movies of 1997. Why? Because we can, damn it. It's the year Hal 9000 was activated in Urbana, Illinois. It's the year Skynet launched a nuclear strike on mankind. And it's the year Rebecca Black was born. Kind of a bad year all around, except for all the great movies. Later, they review the new Jake Gyllenhaal sci-fi thriller Source Code and the scary movie Insidious from the makers of Saw. One of these films is a great b-movie with a stellar cast and compelling themes. The other one is Insidious. They don't recommend it.
Plus! What does Bibbs have to do with the Mars Pathfinder? Will Disney's Miss Marple finally have a hardcore sex scene? Do you know what they say about chicks who play bass clarinet? How did Bill Clinton make nerds cry? Who will be buried alive in cherries? What movie came this close to starring Walt Disney's serial killer son? Which of this week's releases fails the fabled Refrigerator Test? And did Darth Maul ever kick his drug habit?
The answers to all these questions and more in this week's episode of The B-Movies Podcast: Episode #10 – 1997 Called…!
