Superboy Comes To 'Smallville'

Last Friday’s episode of "Smallville" featured the surprising debut of another DC superhero directly related to Superman in more ways than one..

TVLine is reporting that that the clone of Lex Luthor known as Alexander will soon be revealed to be Conner Kent, better known as Superboy. As in the current  DC Universe, Conner is the clone of both Lex Luthor and Superman who struggles to deal with his dual heritage.

Alexander was introduced on the series earlier this year as the only surviving Lex clone who gradually became demented while rapidly aging. His caretaker/biological sister, Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) was so concerned about unleashing him on the world that she actually tried to kill him with a lethal injection in the most recent episode; only to learn that his skin is invulnerable like Clark’s.

Although Alexander was portrayed by Jakob Davies and Connor Stanhope earlier in the season, Lucas Grabeel made his first appearance as the character last week and he will return as Connor on the 16th episode; which will be called "Scion." Grabeel also previously appeared as a young Lex Luthor during the sixth season of "Smallville," in addition to his roles in "High School Musical," "Veronica Mars," "Boston Legal" and "CSI."

“Conner’s journey is manipulated by a master,” related "Smallville" showrunners Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders to TVLine. “Luckily, someone knows more about Conner’s life than he does. But he should be wary of strangers bearing gifts.”

"Scion" will be the sixteenth episode of the season and it is rumored to feature a showdown between Tess and Lionel Luthor (John Glover) over the Luthor family legacy.

There’s also a rumor that Grabeel may make an additional appearance on the series, which could mean that Connor will still be around when Michael Rosenbaum reprises his role as Lex Luthor for the series finale of "Smallville."
