Blur's fragile reunion is finally becoming more concrete. For quite some time Damon Albarn has gone back and forth about whether his merry band of Britpop champions will continue on as a unit after their Parklive Olympic show at London's Hyde Park this past August, and it seems as if some decisions have finally been made regarding their longevity.
Taking to their Facebook page, the band said:
Thank you for waiting… Rock Werchter is about to announce that Blur will headline next July. We're excited.. hope to travel in 2013 to play to more of our lovely fans who we haven't seen for a while. Don't know where yet, we'll tell as soon as we do.. Stand by."
Rock Werchter takes place at Festival Park in Werchter, Belgium from July 4-7th. Blur is set to headline.
When asked in April whether the band would play live again after Hyde Park, Albarn was quite a bit less enthusiastic about future prospects when talking to The Guardian, "No, not really," he said, "And I hope that's the truth: that that's how we end it."
His ambivalence shone through, however, when within the same month Albarn told UK's Metro that Blur's reunion wasn't entirely complete. "Some days I feel one way and other days I feel the other," he said, calling the Guardian article "an interesting take on a very long conversation."
We'll keep you posted on developments. Thanks to Some Kind of Awesome for the heads up.
