In an exclusive announcement, HipHopWired is reporting confirmation that Outkast has plans to release a new album by early next year.
The site also offers further confirmation that both Andre 3000 and Big Boi are expected to drop solo projects, both before the end of 2011.
An industry source tells HipHopWired, “Outkast is on track to release a new album by early next year. Both Dre and Big are working on solo projects; they want those out by the end of 2011.” Here's hoping these guys have the legit inside track here, because this is the scoop of the year so far.
The release would be a massively anticipated comeback for the Georgia duo, who haven’t released anything together since 2006’s lukewarm reception of Idlewild but have each achieved success on their own. Andre 300 has been busy with production work as well as film and television, while Big Boi’s most recent album Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was met with heavy critical praise and fanfare.
