Spider-Man fans will be a little disappointed to hear that Shailene Woodley (who we just did a feature on), the actress cast to play Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” has not only had her scenes cut from the film, but is also uncertain to return to the franchise entirely. This was due to a creative decision by director Marc Webb to keep the story focused on the budding romance between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) from the previous installment.
However, not all hope is lost for the character of Mary Jane herself, who is assumed to play a big part in the recently announced sequels “The Amazing Spider-Man 3 & 4,” due out on June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018, respectively. There is no news yet on who will be offered the role. Woodley parted the film on good terms saying “Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing MJ until the next film” (EW.com).
