Willa Joanna Chance Holland is an American actress and fashion model probably best known for her roles on “Gossip Girl” and “Arrow.”
Willa Holland wrote on Twitter “In a dream all was seen, my subconscious mind ripped by the seen. No care, no need. It’s a bitter life, but #prettysweet.”
She grew up in Los Angeles and attended Paul Revere Middle School and later Palisades Charter High School.
Willa is the ex-stepdaughter of director Brian De Palma. He took her to a talent agency when she was seven years old, and from the ages of 7 to 11, she was the top child model in the United States. She has modeled for Guess, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ralph Lauren and Gap.
She broke into acting playing a rebellious little sister on “The O.C.” She said she could relate to her character during the time she played her on the series. “I think I was right there in that stage of life where Kaitlin was. It was very obvious to me why I got cast in that role at that time.”

Willa Holland learned to play a Chopin piece for the film “A Summer in Geneoa.” She had never played the piano before.
Willa Holland has also appeared in “The Last Song,” “Straw Dogs” and “Legion,” among other projects. She said from “about 14 to about 18, 19,” she worked non-stop, “and then right before I turned 20 I was like, ‘I need a break.’” She said she took a year off to try some new hobbies. “I spent a lot of time putting myself back into being a kid again. I had been forcing myself to grow up a lot.”
In 2009, Willa Holland said, “You just get jaded by the clubs and glamour. In reality you can go clubbing in any part of the world, you can be glamorous in any part of the world. It’s just because we have a Hollywood sign.”
She added about modeling, “I enjoy both worlds. With acting, you’re surrounded by the same people for the whole shoot, whereas you’re working with different people every time for modeling.”
Willa said she’s a “little peeved” that she’s still offered rebellious girl types. Her long-term goal is to direct and star in her own film.
Willa Holland said, “I do get called an old soul a lot. I think that living in Hollywood my whole life has helped me hone that. I’ve dealt with a lot in my 21 years.”
