Melinda Clarke is an actress probably best known for her roles on a variety of TV series, including “Nikita,” “Entourage” and the “O.C.,” among many others.
Melinda Clarke described herself on Twitter as “Actor, mother and dancing fool.” Her nickname is Mindy. Her mother was a ballet dancer and her father was an actor. She was raised in the coastal town of Dana Point, California. She graduated from Dana Hills High School in 1987, and was part of the Drama Club. When she was 18, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in modeling. Interestingly, she is also a trained opera singer. “I was more of a light opera singer, not really much of a lounge singer.”
Melinda Clarke began her career as an actress as a young blind girl on the soap “Days of Our Lives.” She said, “My character was the preacher’s daughter and her name was Faith. That’s right; I was Blind Faith.” Other parts followed. After her role in “Return of the Living Dead III,” she didn’t want to do horror films for fear of being typecast as a scream queen.
She’s had two action figures made in her likeness. The first was from her role as Jessica Priest in “Spawn,” and the second from her role as Velasca in “Xena: Warrior Princess.”
As for her role on “Entourage,” Melinda Clarke said, “You get to be funny, raunchy, relaxed…I told [creator] Doug Ellin that if he ever does another show like this he has to let me do it because it’s dramedy, which is one of my favorite things…and I credit THE O.C. with teaching me that.” She’s said, “I’m getting a lot of roles as women who are very powerful. I think that’s a reflection of me as a person.”
She is also a cigar aficionado. (Readers, feel free to insert your own cigar joke here.)
She was married to Ernie Mirich, and the couple has a daughter, Kathryn Grace. The couple has since divorced. Melinda Clarke calls Los Angeles home.
