Claire Holt is an Australian television and film actress. She is best known for her roles on the series, "The Vampire Diaries" (and its spin-off, "The Originals") and "H2O: Just Add Water," as well as films, "Mean Girls 2" and "Messengers 2: The Scarecrow."
Claire Rhiannon Holt was born in Brisbane, Australia on June 11,1988. While she grew up with only three other siblings (one brother and two sisters), her father belonged to a family of nine children, giving Claire somewhere around 40 cousins growing up. She attended and subsequently graduated from Stuartholme School in Toowong in 2005. From there, it was her initial plan to become a doctor, but as we've learned from many stories of famous actors, sometimes things don't quite work out the way they were planned, especially once you are discovered.
It was while doing commercials to make some extra cash that Claire was able to land her first major acting role, just one year after graduating high school. The role was that of Ema Gilbert what would go on to be a very popular children's series in Australia known as "H2O: Just Add Water." Of course, while the series would go on to win both a Logie Award and Nickelodeon Australia Kids' Choice Award, by the time theend of the second season came around, Claire decided to move on with her career, signing up for the horror sequel, "Messengers 2: The Scarecrow," and leaving the world of children's television behind.
By 2011, Claire was not only starring in another sequel, "Mean Girls 2," but also doing a guest sting on the hugely successful ABC Family mystery series, "Pretty Little Liars." It was through her exposure there that she was able to land a very promising starring role on yet another successful teen drama, "The Vampire Diaries." Her character of Rebekah Mikaelson was even transferred over to the series' spin-off, "The Original." Even though Claire abruptly left the series just short of the end of its first season (her last episode as a regular aired on March 11, 2014), she assured viewers it was just a temporary hiatus so she could go home and visit family, and that she is open to returning.
