Becki Newton is an American television actress. She is best known for her role as Amanda Tanen on the series, "Ugly Betty."
Rebecca Sara Newton was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 4, 1978. However, she was primarily raised in Guilford, Connecticut. Bitten by the acting bug early in life, Becki was performing in summer stock theater by the time she was just 13. She would continue to perform in school productions throughout her youth. She eventually went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied European History. She even studied abroad in Europe and South America, helping her become fluent in Spanish, German, and Greek.

With the help of her brother and fellow actor, Matt Newman, Becki moved to New York City after college to pursue a career as an actress on Braodway. Of course, in order to do so, she had to work as a waitress at the Times Square Brewery in the interim. Starting out with roles in TV commercials for brands such as Olive Garden, she eventually started picking up guest spots on shows such as "Cold Case" and "American Dreams," the latter of which being where she met her future husband, actor Chris Diamantopoulos.
Becki's big break came when she landed the role as arch-nemisis, Amanda Tanen, on the ABC series, "Ugly Betty." of course, this is not only what she is known for, as prior to the role, she hosted the short-lived TBS celebrity-interview show, "Movie Junky." Even since her role on "Ugly Betty," though, her career has continued to pick up speed. Since the series' end, she's continued to book recurring roles on series such as "Love Bites," "How I Met Your Mother," and "The Godwin Games," which co-starred actors Scott Foley and T.J. Miller.
