Going to San Diego Comic Con 2012 and don’t want to get stuck in a panel about breaking into Marvel’s janitorial staff? Here are the can’t-miss comedy panels for Saturday, July 15th. Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s schedules are up, too. (You’ll find me at The Devastator comedy magazine booth at B-04 – stop by to maximize your humor intake!) These are panels that stood out to me for their potential hilariousness:


10:00-11:00 Spotlight on Jason Shiga— Comic-Con special guest Jason Shiga is best known for his interactive comics, including Meanwhile and Knock Knock. He will present a career retrospective detailing his unlikely journey from math genius to cartoonist. Jason will discuss past, present, and future projects including an exclusive peek at his latest comic, Demon. Come and see some of his crazier interactive comic creations that have never been published, including the only known comic with movable parts. Room 4

1:45-2:45 The Cleveland Show— See the world premiere screening of "Menace II Secret Society," the season 4 premiere episode of The Cleveland Show, featuring unbelievable guest voices followed by a Q&A with panelists Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry, Kevin Michael Richardson (Thundercats, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Transformers Prime),Reagan Gomez, and Rich Appel. Hall H

2:00-3:00 Max Brooks: Zombie Survival 101— Max Brooks, screenwriter and author of bestselling books The Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z, and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks, is the world's leading authority on the defense against a ghoulish uprising! Renowned for his campus and convention lectures nationwide, Brooks comes to San Diego Comic-Con to share his insight into the rotting minds of the undead, reveal how the Zombie Survival Guide came into existence, and field questions from zombie-phobic fans! You dare not miss this lecture — your very life may depend on it! Room 7AB

2:15-3:15 It's Christmas in July! Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants— Dust off your knitted sweater, fill your mug with nog and come along for some good ol' fashioned Christmas cheer as panelists take you through a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming SpongeBob stop-motion special. Creative director Vince Waller and screen novelties directors Seamus Walsh and Mark Caballero present a sneak peek at the Christmas special. The panel will also include a sing-along and Q&A with the voice cast, including Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (voice of Patrick), and Mr. Lawrence (writer and voice of Plankton). Moderated by Claudia Spinelli, executive in charge for Nickelodeon. Room 6A

3:00-4:00 Axe Cop— Ethan Nicolle (Bearmageddon, Chumble Spuzz) discusses the growing world of Axe Cop, including the new President of the World miniseries from Dark Horse comics and his involvement the TV show in production at FOX. With a possible appearance in person or digitally from his brother/co-creator Malachai Nicolle plus possible surprise guests. Room 6DE 

This is also a great opportunity to see multiple people cosplaying as Sockarang’s Dad. [Image via]
