I don't have the words right now to properly give this bit of potential news it's due diligence but I will try…there are rumors circulating that Brett Favre may return to football.
That's right, Brett Favre back to football may be a story YET AGAIN!
OK, before we go overly homicidal here, let me just repeat the fact that this is a rumor, and one not being instigated by the man in question who has repeatedly said “I'm done!” only to turn around, laugh in our faces, and calmly say “fooled you.”.
Howard Eskin, a sports radio personality based in the Philadelphia area, reported and tweeted Saturday that the Eagles are pursuing the aged vet for a backup role once they trade Kevin Kolb. Now, before you scoff at that backup part, you should take into account that Favre is good friends with Eagles head coach head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg from his days in Green Bay . Also, with a lack of a real training camp, Favre can slip in without having to go through all that messy practicing, something he avoids at all cost.
The final factor playing into this is that starter Michael Vick's style of play inevitably leads to injury and games missed. This would give Favre the opportunity to ride into the game and save the Eagles from certain doom, you know, the cowboy way.
Vick, for his part, is all for signing Favre, if his tweets are to be believed.
“I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup. That will be an amazing learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career” Vick tweeted.
Now, as I said earlier, this is all just rumor and what if at this point and it's rumor that is not being addressed or fueled by Favre himself…yet. One thing is certain, however, Favre likes attention and the limelight has always been one he craves so don't expect him to stay silent on this matter for very long.
